Local Pack Visibility Checker

Would you actually show up when someone searches “near me”?

Type in a business, a search term, and a postcode or town. We’ll run a real local pack check for that search and show you exactly who’s showing up — and why.

Check your visibility

Why the 3-pack matters more than your organic ranking.

It sits above organic results

On mobile, where most “near me” searches happen, the map and three local listings fill the screen before a single blue link appears.

It runs on different signals

Ranking well on your website doesn’t carry over. The pack is driven by your Google Business Profile — category choice, review volume and recency, and proximity to the searcher.

Intent is immediate

“Near me” searches skew toward people ready to call or visit today. Missing the pack here costs enquiries, not just traffic.

Small changes move it fast

Unlike organic content work, fixing category selection or building recent reviews can shift local pack position within weeks, not months.

How to act on your local pack result.

A result showing you outside the top three is usually a Google Business Profile problem before it is a website problem, so start there. Check your primary category first: it carries more weight in local pack ranking than anything else you can change, and a mismatched category caps your visibility however good your site is. Then compare your review volume and recency against the competitors the checker names for you, because recent reviews matter as well as the total. Make sure service areas and opening hours are complete, add genuine photos, and answer the questions people post on your profile. On the website side, the quickest wins are a LocalBusiness schema block whose name, address and phone number match your profile exactly, and a real page for each town you serve instead of one page listing them all. Re-check every few weeks, as local pack positions move faster than organic ones.

Bear in mind that local pack results are personalised by the searcher’s exact location, not just their town, so there is no single position to hold. A business can sit first for someone searching a mile away and vanish three miles out. One check tells you where you stand from the centre of the area you entered; the useful exercise is repeating it across the postcodes you actually want work from. If you appear near your own premises and nowhere else, distance is doing most of the work; stronger relevance and reviews are what widen your reach.

Related tools.

A local pack gap usually has a technical half and a resourcing half. These two tools cover each.

  • Schema Markup Grader — LocalBusiness schema whose name, address and phone number match your profile exactly helps your local pack chances. This grades what your pages actually publish, rather than what a plugin claims to.
  • SEO Agency Cost Calculator — closing local visibility gaps means town pages, review generation and profile work. This gives a realistic monthly range for that scope, so you can judge quotes against it.
