Our story began in 1999 when founder Steve Grant knocked on the doors of local businesses in Liverpool. Having taught himself web design in his dad’s snooker room, Steve persuaded business owners to invest in digital marketing, targeting the search leaders of the time, Ask Jeeves and Yahoo.
By 2006, Google, YouTube and Facebook had burst onto the scene. After moving to London to study, Steve teamed up with fellow graduates to launch Figment. Together they were on a mission to get businesses found online. Backed up by a team of creative and technical specialists, Figment became the go-to agency for online success.

Steve Grant
Managing Director
Agency founder Steve’s key role is ensuring Figment clients achieve maximum return on investment, plus exceptional value for money.
For years business owners have relied on Steve’s natural ability to steer their projects and campaigns towards success. Focused on driving a steady flow of new leads and customers, Steve has the vision and creativity to keep clients’ costs to a minimum whilst enhancing results and profitability for the long term.
With 20+ years’ experience in web design, web mastering and SEO behind him, and a First Class Honours Degree in Multimedia, Technology and Design from Brunel, Steve is well-placed to provide top-level advice and consultancy that makes a genuine difference.
A lover of jazz piano, Steve likes to tinkle the ivories outside work. Travel and collecting autographs, models and merchandise are other favourite pastimes.
Emma Grant
Head of SEO
Results-driven Emma heads up our SEO team. A champion of best-practice SEO strategies for search engine success that lasts and delivers best value, Emma’s work focuses on boosting clients’ online visibility with the ultimate goal of increasing sales.
Emma applies her extensive skill and experience to create strategies that pay off quickly for faster results. She knows precisely what to do to reduce clients’ paid ad spends for greater profits, and how to boost organic leads for better long term return on investment.
After close of business, when she’s not organising exciting travel adventures, you may hear Emma strumming classical guitar tunes or working on her jazz riffs.

As our SEO growth manager, Adam’s role is to understand our clients’ unique goals, and then create a personalised roadmap to get them where they want to be.
Whether it’s driving more leads, brand building or boosting business growth, with hisstrategic, outcome-focused approach, Adam leaves no stone unturned in making sure our clients achieve game-changing results.
Once the sun goes down on the working day, Adam’s sights are firmly set on the stars. An avid astronomer, he runs a website dedicated to helping new stargazers get more out of the night sky. He’s also a keen runner, with an ultramarathon his next major goal.
Michael Austin
Operations Manager
Michael has a wealth of experience in e-learning, web design and development, server management and full stack development, all of which play a vital role in maximising the success of our clients’ projects.
His excellent problem-solving skills mean Michael will always come up with the perfect solution to ensure a smooth-running website that gets results. Also on the subject of problem-solving, Michael is our support ticket action man, resolving everyday technical issues swiftly so that our clients’ websites can keep on pulling in maximum sales.
After office hours, Michael will either be tending to his garden, or taking in a live music gig.

Boh has been working in digital media for almost 20 years. He pursues a simple goal: to maximise return on investment. This he achieves by closely managing each step of the customer acquisition journey, using his experience and expertise to fine tune campaigns so they are optimised for long term success.
As a pay-per-click specialist with in-depth knowledge of SEO, Boh combines powerful skills to get the most out of all types of online advertising campaigns. Always the optimist, Boh shares the Figment value of building long-lasting client relationships. His realistic outlook and honest approach are appreciated by clients.
Outside of work, Boh is a competitive rower. He’s a keen saxophone player and pianist too.
John Wallace

John has spent 14 years successfully helping a range of businesses develop and sustain effective and profitable relationships with a host of major blue chip organisations. With this experience he is able to quickly get to the bottom of just what will drive our clients’ success, and how we can best apply our skills and knowledge to achieve that success and maximise results faster.
Wearing his other hat, John is a composer, musician and sound engineer. Two of his musicals have been published and are performed around the world. He also leads two choirs, and creates new arrangements of pop, rock and musical songs for choirs.

As a photographer, he creates visual impact for our clients through his natural creativity and imaginative thinking. His engaging photographic and video work helps our clients connect seamlessly with their target audience, combining a wealth of experience with in-depth commercial understanding to draw the very best out of every shoot.
Out of hours Laurence enjoys a game of snooker – he’s even been spotted potting balls with former world champion John Parrot! Laurence is considered a DIY genius, and can even sew and knit.
Greg Preen

Greg brings a unique blend of expertise to the team, combining a decade of web design and development experience with an in-depth understanding of SEO. It’s a blend of skills that makes him not only spot-on at improving Google rankings for clients, but red-hot when it comes to converting website visitors into leads or sales.
Creative and strategic by nature, Greg always takes time to get to grips with a client’s business, and understand their goals. For him, it’s all about making sure SEO campaigns are neatly aligned with a client’s business objectives, for the results that matter most.
When he’s not working, Greg loves spending days at the beach. He also enjoys a spot of cooking, and is, by his own admission, equally keen on eating.

When he’s not strategy planning, Zach likes to escape into the great outdoors where you’ll find him hiking or biking, camping or scaling peaks. A prime candidate for the wanderlust of the year award, he rarely sits still, although his 1970s camping trailer rebuild project,‘Purpleberry’, may keep him grounded for a while yet.

Martin works with a broad variety of brands and delivers an equally wide range of written content that gets a message across as eloquently and persuasively as possible.
With a background in national newspaper journalism, he has extensive experience in producing effective, economical copy that meets SEO requirements while hitting the spot in any tone of voice required.
When not at his keyboard, Martin can usually be found watching sport, especially football. He is, for his many sins, a Chelsea season ticket holder. Musically, he has been accused of feeling that nothing since the 70s and 80s matches the sounds of that era. He is guilty as charged.

When he’s not grafting, you’ll have to be quick to keep up with Tim as he’s a keen marathon runner. He also enjoys growing his own food and is a natural in the kitchen. His speciality? Meringue sandwich chocolate brownies!
